A journalist working with the Bayelsa State owned Glory FM 97.1 in Yenagoa, Mr Famous Giobaro, has been assassinated by some unknown gunmen.
The victim was reportedly murdered on Sunday at about 5am at his residence located on INEC Road, Kpasia in Yenagoa.
It was gathered that the gunmen gained access into the journalist’s house using a ladder, went straight to the kitchen door, shooting at it and pulled it down to enter the his bedroom before shooting him point blank on the stomach and left immediately.
Two other persons were around with the deceased when he was shot, but nothing happened to them.
Spokesman of the Bayelsa Police Command, DSP Asinim Butswat, who confirmed the incident, said all would be done to apprehend the culprits.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has appealed to the police to get to the root of the incident.
