NPA Ejects NAFDAC, NDLEA, SON from Sea Ports

By Dipo Olowookere

Seven of the 14 agencies at the sea ports in Nigeria have been expelled by management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

This move, we gathered, is in line with implementation of the new executive order signed recently by the Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, as part of efforts to improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria.

Those asked to leave the sea ports immediately were the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) among others.

Managing Director of NPA, Ms Hadiza Bala-Usman, disclosed on Wednesday that the only agency, apart from hers, permitted to operate at the ports are the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Department of State Security, Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Police, Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and Port Health.
