NASD Security Index Further Loses 0.53%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange weakened further by 0.53 per cent on Friday, August 28.

Yesterday, the market capitalisation lost N13.57 billion in value to close at N2.542 trillion compared with the previous day’s N2.556 trillion, while the NASD Security Index (NSI) dipped further by 22.60 points to 4,235.91 points from 4,258.51 points. The bourse ended the trading session on Friday with two price gainers and three price losers, led by 11 Plc, which improved by 20 Kobo to quote at N220.20 per share from N220.00 per share, and Food Concepts Plc strengthened by 10 Kobo to sell at N2.50 per unit compared with the preceding session’s N2.40 per unit.

But Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc went down by N2.35 to N86.06 per share from N88.41 per share, FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc lost N2.17 to trade at N141.00 per unit from N143.17 per unit, and Geo-Fluids Plc weakened by 7 Kobo to trade at N1.87per share compared with the previous value of N1.94 per share.

During the session, the volume of securities exchanged by investors surged by 368.4 per cent to 1.1 million units from the previous session’s 239,803 units, and the number of deals increased by 10.5 per cent to close at 41 deals from 20 deals, while the value of securities slipped by 21.6 per cent to N18.2 million compared to the preceding session’s N23.2 million.

Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc finished the trading day as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with the sale of 3.4 billion units traded for N8.4 billion, followed by Infrastructure Credit Guarantee (Infracredit) Plc with 2.3 billion units exchanged for N6.5 billion, and CSCS Plc with 80.1 million units traded for N5.8 billion.

GNI Plc was also the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units worth N8.4 billion, followed by Infracredit Plc with 2.3 billion units valued at N6.5 billion, and Resourcery Plc with 1.1 billion units worth N415.7 million.
