September 2026 FGN Savings Bond Sales Close Today

Subscription for September 2026 FGN savings bonds will close today, Friday, September 11, 2026.
The debt instrument is being offered for sale by the federal government through the Debt Management Office (DMO).
Subscription for the asset class opened on Monday, September 7, 2026. The bonds are mainly targeted at retail investors in the capital market.
This is why the minimum subscription for the papers is N5,000 at a unit price of N1,000, subject to a maximum purchase of N50 million.
For this month, the debt office is offering for sale two tenors of 2 years and 3 years, as it usually does.
The 2-year FGN savings bond due September 16, 2028, comes with a coupon of 14.12 per cent per annum, while the 3-year FGN savings bond due September 16, 2029, has an interest rate of 15.12 per cent per annum.
Business Post reports that the interest payment comes every quarter, with the bullet repayment on the maturity date.
The FGN savings bond is backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government of Nigeria and charged upon the general assets of Nigeria.
It qualifies as securities in which trustees can invest under the Trustee Investment Act, and falls under government securities within the meaning of the Company Income Tax Act (CITA) and the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) for tax exemption for pension funds, amongst other investors.
It also qualifies as a liquid asset for liquidity ratio calculation for banks, and is listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited after the exercise to allow for trading in the secondary market.
