NASD Exchange Loses 1.20%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange further depreciated on Friday, September 11, by 1.20 per cent on the back of profit-taking by investors.

During the session, the NASD Security Index (NSI) fell by 54.31 points to 4,472.45 points from 4,562.76 points, and the market capitalisation dropped by N32.59 billion to close at N2.684 trillion compared with the previous day’s N2.717 trillion.

Yesterday, there were two price losers. led by Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc, which lost N7.22 to close at N99.66 per share compared with the preceding day’s N106.88 per share, and Afriland Properties Plc declined by 52 Kobo to settle at N18.00 per unit versus Thursday’s closing price of N18.52 per unit.

However, there was a price gainer, which was FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc. The price went up by N2.16 to N170.00 per share from N167.84 per share.

During the last trading session of the week, the volume of transactions increased by 62.9 per cent to 615,427 units from 377,601 units, and the number of deals jumped by 21.7 per cent to 28 deals from 23 deals, while the value of trades depreciated by 57.7 per cent to N21.6 million from the preceding day’s N51.1 million.

Great Nigeria Insurance (GNI) Plc remained the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units valued at N8.4 billion, followed by Infrastructure Credit Guarantee (Infracredit) Plc with 2.3 billion units worth N6.5 billion, and CSCS Plc with 81.9 million units transacted for N6.0 billion.

GNI Plc also ended the day as the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis, with 3.4 billion units exchanged for N8.4 billion, followed by Infracredit Plc with 2.3 billion units traded for N6.5 billion, and Resourcery Plc with 1.1 billion units sold for N415.7 million.
