Nigerian Government Assures Foreign Investors Competitive Environment
By Aduragbemi Omiyale
The federal government has promised investors a competitive environment where investments can generate returns while financing productive economic activity.
Speaking with some investors in London over the weekend, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, disclosed that the reforms of President Bola Tinubu were already yielding positive results.
The Finance Minister, who is also a tax expert, was in the United Kingdom as a keynote speaker at the Association of Asset Custodians of Nigeria (AACN) 2026 Investor Day in London, themed Nigeria’s Next Chapter: From Reform to Returns.
During his presentation, Mr Oyedele stated that Nigeria’s economic conversation is moving beyond the necessity of reform to the delivery of sustainable returns through higher investment, stronger productivity, increased production, job creation, rising incomes and improved living standards.
He highlighted the country’s improving macroeconomic fundamentals, deepening capital markets, redesigned tax system and more transparent foreign-exchange market.
The Minister also reaffirmed the Nigerian government’s commitment to mobilising private capital and strengthening institutions.
His message to the international investment community was clear: Nigeria’s changing fundamentals and expanding opportunities deserve to be assessed on current evidence, not inherited perceptions.
