Market Executes 3.166 billion Shares Worth N155.0bn in 206,662 Deals in One Week

Last week, investors transacted 3.166 billion shares worth N155.023 billion in 206,662 deals on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited compared with the 4.689
billion shares valued at N240.824 billion traded in 261,198 deals in the preceding week.
In the week, Customs Street opened its doors to market participants for four days, as the federal government declared Thursday, October 1, 2026, a public holiday to mark Independence Day.
A breakdown of the activity chart showed that the financial services industry topped with 1.944 billion stocks sold for N77.733 billion in 92,035 deals, contributing 61.41 per cent and 50.14 per cent to the total trading volume and value, respectively.
The investment sector followed with a turnover of 409.484 million equities worth N5.400 billion in 1,444 deals, and the ICT space transacted 231.705 million shares valued at N9.606 billion in 24,133 deals.
Fidelity Bank, VFD Group, and Access Holdings accounted for 1.343 billion shares worth N27.580 billion in 15,771 deals, contributing 42.42 per cent and 17.79 per cent to the total trading volume and value, respectively.
Business Post reports that 44 stocks appreciated during the week versus 61 equities a week earlier, 37 equities depreciated versus 32 equities in the previous week, and 65 shares remained unchanged versus 63 shares in the preceding week.
ABC Transport topped the gainers’ log after it gained 45.10 per cent to trade at N7.40, CMFC appreciated by 37.73 per cent to N4.49, Livingtrust Mortgage Bank rose by 32.69 per cent to N3.45, VFD Group jumped by 18.42 per cent to N13.50, and CWG grew by 15.28 per cent to N20.75.
On the flip side, Sovereign Trust Insurance led the losers’ group after it shed 12.50 per cent to N2.10, eTranzact decreased by 12.00 per cent to N11.00, Learn Africa shrank by 11.05 per cent to N7.65, PZ Cussons slipped by 10.03 per cent to N66.40, and Fortis Global Insurance crashed by 9.50 per cent to N1.81.
The All-Share Index (ASI) closed lower by 0.52 per cent to 250,808.27 points, and the market capitalisation depreciated by 0.50 per cent to N162.843 trillion.
In the same vein, all other indices finished lower apart from the Main Board, insurance, energy, and growth indices, which soared by 0.08 per cent, 0.61 per cent, 0.05 per cent, and 1.85 per cent, respectively, while the commodity index closed flat.
