DMO Offers 3-Year FGN Savings Bond for October at 14.071%

The coupon rate of the 3-year FGN savings bond for October 2026 has been set at 14.071 per cent, while the 2-year paper is at 13.071 per cent.
Subscription for the retail bond at the primary market commenced today, Monday, October 5, 2026, according to a circular from the Debt Management Office (DMO).
Investors have till Friday, October 9, 2026, to purchase the FGN savings bonds from stockbroking firms appointed as distribution agents by the DMO.
The unit price of the note is N1,000, subject to a minimum subscription of N5,000 and in multiples of N1,000 thereafter, subject to a maximum subscription of N50 million.
The FGN savings bond is backed by the full faith and credit of the Federal Government of Nigeria and charged upon the general assets of Nigeria.
The interest on the investment is paid by the government every quarter, with the bullet repayment done on the maturity of the bond.
The FGN savings bond qualifies as securities in which trustees can invest under the Trustee Investment Act. It also qualifies as government securities within the meaning of the Company Income Tax Act (CITA) and the Personal Income Tax Act (PITA) for tax exemption for pension funds, amongst other investors.
It can be used as a liquid asset for liquidity ratio calculation for banks, and would be listed on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited after the exercise to allow for trading in the secondary market.
