The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Bauchi Region, has sought the support of the Bauchi State Government for speedy allocation of land for two proposed transmission substations in Alkaleri and Toro Local Government Areas.

The projects are aimed at expanding transmission capacity and improving bulk power supply across the state.

The Acting General Manager (Transmission), Bauchi Region, Mr Muhammed Bello Ahmed, appealed for this during a courtesy visit to the State Ministry of Land and Survey on Monday, November 2, 2026.

Mr Ahmed commended the state government for its engagement with host communities on the proposed projects and for protecting transmission infrastructure through enforcement of Right-of-Way regulations, particularly the removal of illegal structures under high-voltage lines.

He stressed that timely land allocation is critical to fast-tracking implementation of the substations.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Shuaibu Alhaji Mohammed, assured TCN of the state government’s commitment to the projects, pledging to facilitate land allocation and strengthen security around critical transmission facilities.

The new substations are expected to enhance electricity transmission and improve power supply reliability in Bauchi State upon completion.

The federal government has been aiming to strengthen electricity transmission infrastructure and improve bulk power supply across the Northern region, but challenges including vandalism and security issues continue to persist.
