Renowned journalist and former Sunday Editor of the Nigerian Compass, Mr Dotun Oladipo, has emerged President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
Mr Oladipo was elected President of the Guild after a poll held on Wednesday at the Adna Hotel, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.
He and other newly elected members of the executives of GOCOP were inaugurated the next day at the 1st annual conference of the Guild held at the Renaissance Hotel, also in Ikeja, Lagos.
Mr Oladipo publishes the popular online news platform called The Eagle Online.
He will lead the group for the next two years.
Other persons elected at the Wednesday’s election were Maureen Chigbo, Publisher of Real News, as Deputy President; and Danlami Nmodu, Publisher of News Diary Online, as the Secretary General.
Publisher of Metro Watch, Mr Collins Edomaruse, was elected Deputy Secretary General; Mr Segun Adeleye of World Stage emerged the Financial Secretary; Janet Mba-Afolabi of The Scroll was elected Treasurer; while Mr Olumide Iyanda, Publisher of Qed.ng, is the Publicity Secretary.
The poll, which was very peaceful and fair, was conducted by a committee led by Mr Simon Ibe, the Publisher of Global Patriot Newspaper.
Before Mr Oladipo’s emergence as the new President of GOCOP, Mr Musikilu Mojeed of Premium Times had served as the Acting President.
