Some personnel the Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) have been presented for induction as Certified Trainers by the Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD) to further strengthen the human capacity development initiative in the public service.

Speaking at the special induction ceremony, Acting Director-General of PSSDC, Mr Senukon Ajose-Harrison, said that the present administration believes in professionalism as a prerequisite for improved productivity and service delivery hence the government continually builds the capacity of its staff.

“The Lagos State Government is very keen about the capacity building because the place of continuous improvement through training cannot be over emphasised in achieving organisational goals and this explains why NITAD is our first partner in this regard” the Director-General stated.

While appreciating the support of NITAD, Mr Ajose-Harrison affirmed the readiness of the Centre to renew its partnership with the Institute, stressing that PSSDC will continue to partner and identify with distinguished institutions in line with the government’s policy initiatives to boost performance and enhance the growth of public servants in Lagos State.

He further disclosed that the Centre had expanded its network with some other agencies outside the country, assuring that the relationship between NITAD and PSSDC would be strengthened through constant and continuous performance enhancement programmes that will engender a more virile Lagos State Public Service.

Earlier, the Chairman and President of Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Mrs Janet Jolaoso, disclosed that NITAD is working tirelessly towards members’ categorisation, raising its international status and acceptance index as well as making advocacy for its members at all levels.

Mrs Jolaoso, while congratulating the inducted members for successfully scaling through the training period, revealed that about six thousand members had been inducted since 2008 and extolled the partnership initiative of PSSDC with the institute.
