Report just reaching us indicates that the Acting President, Mr Yemi Osinbajo, has dismissed the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Lawal Daura, with immediate effect.
This dismissal was confirmed by spokesman to the Acting President, Mr Laolu Akande, on Tuesday afternoon.
“Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr Lawal Musa Daura,” Mr Akande stated in a tweet posted via his verified Twitter account.
Mr Akande further said, “Mr Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”
On Tuesday morning, some officials of the DSS stormed the National Assembly complex, preventing some lawmakers from entering into their offices.
It was rumoured that there was a plan to reconvene today to impeach the Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Mr Ike Ekweremadu.
Exactly a week ago, Mr Saraki announced leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Since then, there have been calls for this resignation as Senate President.
