Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Mr Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, has been granted bail by a court sitting in Kaduna State.
The cleric was granted bail on Monday when his application to seek temporary freedom for medical attention was heard by the judge and approved.
Last week, Justice Darius Khobo of the Kaduna State High Court had adjourned till August 5, 2019 for ruling on the matter.
When the case was heard last week, counsel to the Shiites’ leader and his wife, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), urged the court to grant his clients the permission to travel abroad for further medical treatment due to their bad health condition.
At the hearing today, the judge said the duo should be released to enable them cater for their health. However, the court held that the duo must be accompanied abroad for the treatment by officials of the Kaduna State government.
