TrustBanc Capital Emerges Most Active Stockbroker in August

A financial advisory company, TrustBanc Capital Management Limited, has topped the list of most active brokerage firm on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) by volume of shares traded in the month of August 2019.

Business Post reports that during the period under review, the company transacted a total of 1.104 billion units of equities, accounting for 10.79 percent of the total volume traded stocks.

It was closely followed by Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers, which traded 1.074 billion units, representing 10.50 percent of the total volume, while APEL Asset exchanged 938.7 million stocks, accounting for 9.17 percent.

RenCap Securities, which sold 715.0 million shares (6.99 percent), EFG Hermes traded 665.5 million units (6.50 percent), CSL Stockbrokers transacted 444.1 million equities (4.34 percent), Chapel Hill Denham Securities exchanged 441.8 million (4.32 percent), FBN Quest Securities traded 396.9 million (3.88 percent), Nigerian Stockbrokers Limited transacted 381.4 million equities (3.73 percent), while Cardinalstone Securities transacted 365.6 million shares (3.57 percent).

In all, a total of 6.527 billion shares were traded by these 10 stockbroking companies in August 2019, contributing 63.79 percent to the total volume of shares traded by approved brokerage firms on the NSE.

But in terms of value, RenCap Securities topped the chart, trading equities worth N22.731 billion, representing 18.31 percent of the total value of shares transacted in the month.

Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers transacted N20.614 billion worth of equities in the month, accounting for 16.60 percent, while EFG Hermes sold shares worth N12.475 billion, contributing 10.05 percent.

Chapel Hill Denham Securities traded shares worth N8.501 billion (6.85 percent), CSL Stockbrokers exchanged stocks valued at N6.645 billion (5.35 percent), FBN Quest Secuities sold equities worth N5.640 billion (4.54 percent), Cardinalstone Securities exchanged equities valued at N4.881 billion (3.93 percent), Tellimer Capital traded 4.034 billion (3.25 percent), Meristem Stockbrokers sold stocks worth N3.557 billion (2.86 percent), while Nigerian International Securities transacted N3.217 billion (2.59 percent).

In the month of August 2019, shares worth N92.295 billion were exchanged by the above 10 stockbrokers, accounting for 74.33 percent of the total value of traded equities.
