**Sets Date For Placement Test Re-sit
The Lagos State Examinations Board has announced Saturday, October 22, 2016 as examination date for the year 2016 Placement Test re-sit examination for all affected primary six pupils in both public and private schools at designated centres in the state.
A statement issued by the Director of the Board, Mr Oluwafemi Hassan disclosed that the re-sit became necessary to afford more pupils the opportunity to partake in the examination for admission into Lagos State public secondary schools.
Mr Hassan therefore enjoined all affected schools to avail themselves of this opportunity as no complaint would be entertained after the expiration of the examination date.
Similarly, the Lagos State Examinations Board has come up with the implementation of a new 9 + 1 subjects for Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which would be effective from May/June, 2017 in a bid to improve the State’s 6-3-3-4 policy on Education.
The new policy comprises five composite subjects plus four other single subjects, all compulsory and Arabic as optional.
The subjects include English Studies, Mathematics, Nigeria Languages (Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo), Basic Studies, French Language and Arabic Language (Optional).
According to Mr Hassan the essence of the new policy is in response to global needs and with a view to fast-tracking the nation’s technology attainment for skill acquisition and development.
