NASD OTC Exchange Records 0.1% Marginal Growth

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange posted a 0.1 per cent marginal growth on Wednesday after two consecutive sessions in the flat territory.

The day’s favourable outcome was buoyed by Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc, which recorded a rise in its stock price.

The oil and gas firm recorded a 31 kobo or 0.11 per cent growth to close at N280 per share in contrast to N279.69 per share it closed at the preceding day.

As a result of this, the NASD unlisted security index (NSI) moved up by 0.07 points to settle at 754.88 points versus 754.81 points of the previous day.

Equally, the market capitalisation of the NASD OTC Exchange increased by N60 million to wrap the day at N536.58 billion as against N536.52 billion it finished on Tuesday.

However, there was a price decliner and this was Nigeria Exchange (NGX) Group Plc, which went down by 84 kobo to close at N17.12 per unit compared to the previously traded rate of N17.96 per unit.

During the session, the trading volume improved by 310.1 per cent as a total of 42.1 million units of shares exchanged hands compared with the 10.3 million units transacted previously.

But at the close of business, the value of these transactions went down by 68.1 per cent to N59.0 million from N185.2 million achieved on Tuesday.

At the close of transactions, there was a 45.2 per cent rise in the number of deals traded by investors to 45 deals from 31 deals at the previous session.

NGX Group finished the session as the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) for trading 298.0 million units of its shares for N6.6 billion. Swap Technologies & Telecomms Plc was in second place with 46.6 million units worth N41.0 million while Acorn Petroleum Plc occupied the third position with 41.4 million units of its shares worth N7.0 million.

Equally, NGX Group closed as the most traded security by value (year-to-date) with 298.0 million units worth N6.6 billion. NDEP Plc remained in the second spot with 2.9 million units of its securities valued at N922.2 million, while FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria has transacted 6.1 million units valued at N766.6 million.
