The board of Zenith Bank Plc has announced the shifting of the payment date of the interim dividend of 30 kobo per share it proposed to pay shareholders of the company.
Some days ago, the financial institution said it was intending to reward its shareholders with the cash dividend, with payment date fixed for Monday, September 2, 2019.
The qualification date for this payment, according to a notice made to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) then, was Thursday, August 29, 2019.
But in another disclosure to the exchange today, Zenith Bank said the payment date will no longer be September 2, but Wednesday, September 4, 2019, with the qualification date still intact.
“Further to the publication of the Audited Financial Statement of Zenith Bank Plc for the half-year ended 30 June 2019 on August 19, 2019, whereby the board of directors declared an interim dividend of 30 kobo per share with a closure of register date of August 30, 2019 and payment date of September 2, 2019, the bank wishes to notify the Nigerian Stock Exchange and the investing public that the payment date for the dividend has been changed to Wednesday, September 4, 2019,” the statement said.
Explaining the rationale behind this move, the lender said, “This change was necessitated by the need to ensure that all transactions executed on the qualification date of August 29, 2019 have been settled and all eligible shareholders are determined.”
