The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has officially announced the appointment of multi-award winning artiste, Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as ‘2face Idibia’ or recently, 2Baba, as its Good Cause Ambassador.
2Baba’s appointment was disclosed at an unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, at the Stock Exchange in Lagos and witnessed by some members of the investing community.
Speaking at the event to commemorate the announcement, Chief Executive Officer of the NSE, Mr. Oscar Onyema, stated that the exchange was pleased to welcome the musician as its first Good Cause Ambassador.
According to Mr Onyema, 2Baba’s focus on promoting social causes such as raising awareness on peace, the fight against fake drugs, and various other ills that plague the Nigerian society through his music aligns with NSE’s commitment to creating sustainable value for its diverse stakeholders as well as increasing impact in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We run an inclusive corporate sustainability strategy that promotes a market-based approach to environmental, social and governance imperatives amongst all stakeholders. The appointment of Tuface is aimed at inspiring accelerated progress towards the advancement of the SDGs,” Mr Onyema said.
In his remarks, 2Baba said while it’s an honour to join the NSE family, he has always used his music to inspire change in the world and this has been the focus of the campaigns he has supported over the years.
“I’m indeed delighted to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity. I will like to assure all that I will be dedicated to the good cause of promoting sustainable development as championed by the Exchange,” the prolific artiste said.
Further to his appointment as NSE Good Cause Ambassador, 2Baba will lend his voice to raising awareness and mobilizing support for the Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability initiatives of The Nigerian Stock Exchange geared toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.
