BPSR Signs Deal with DFID for Effective Service Delivery

By Modupe Gbadeyanka

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) and the Department of International Development- Partnership (DFID).

The deal is to Engage, Reform and Learn (DFID-PERL) on governance reform issues and service effective delivery to the Nigerian people.

While signing on behalf of BPSR in Abuja recently, the Acting Director-General of the agency, Mr Dasuki  Arabi, lauded DFID for all the support it had provided in the past one year and expressed the hope that their interventions will add value to the lives of ordinary Nigerian citizens.

Also, Ms Ekanem Bassey, who signed on behalf of DFID, asked that the support that DFID provides should be locally led so that the people can own it.

She further noted that the leadership that BPSR provides is very critical if the project is to succeed and promised that they will honour their commitment while urging BPSR to do same.

Among other commitments contained in the MOU, BPSR will provide strategic leadership and mobilize political support for the implementation of agreed interventions, facilitate lesson learning and sharing and the sustainability and scale-up of reforms.

While DFID in collaboration with BPSR will among other things support core governance reforms that are likely to have the biggest payoff for the country and citizens, especially in the area of service delivery.

It will be recalled that the first MOU which was for a period of one year was from September, 2016 to September, 2017 and the second one which is for the same period of time will be from September, 2017 to September, 2018
