President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday afternoon held a closed-door meeting with leadership of the National Assembly at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Present at the meeting were the Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara.
According to a tweet posted by the Personal Assistant to President Buhari on New Media, Mr Bashir Ahmad, the meeting was mainly centred on the 2018 budget presently at the parliament waiting for passage.
Also, the trio discussed the alleged assault on a serving lawmaker from Kogi State, Senator Dino Melaye, by the police as well as the refusal of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Ibrahim Idris, to honour invitations extended to him to appear before the Senate for questioning bordering on killings in some parts of the country.
Mr Ahmad further said Mr President discussed how both the executive and the legislature can continue to work in harmony to nurture the nation’s young democracy.
