Coronation Group has disclosed that it intends to expand its offerings by delving into the different segments of financial services.

The Chairman of the organisation, Mr Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, said this goal would be achieved with the Capital Market Holding Company (CMHC) license it recently obtained from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

He disclosed this on Wednesday when he was honoured with a closing bell ceremony at the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited to celebrate his investiture as an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) in Lagos.

Mr Aig-Imoukhuede said the licence would solidify its position as an investment management powerhouse in the African region, revealing that the company wants to extend from banking into insurance, investment management, technology, and venture-building – that type of entrepreneurship and innovation spirit that seems to be around the things that it does.

“I think that we have seen a few signs over the past two weeks that a big turnaround is about to take place in our nation.

“I believe that we have a nation of institutions within the financial services community that will provide the platform for this revolution that is about to take place in our economy and our lives to truly happen in an irreversible manner. Nigeria is once again open for business,” he said.

In his remarks, the chief executive of NGX, Mr Temi Popoola, commended the board and management of Coronation Group Limited, stating that the bourse was grateful for Mr Aig-Imoukhuede’s exploits in the capital market and expressed confidence that the company’s CMHC’s license is another phase of growth seen in the capital market in the past few weeks.

On his part, the Group Managing Director of NGX Group, Mr Oscar Onyema, congratulated Mr Aig-Imoukhuede on his honorary fellowship, describing it as well deserved.

Also speaking, the Chairman of NGX Group, Mr Umaru Kwairanga, said the honorary fellowship would elevate Mr Aig-Imoukhuede’s status and be of greater value to CIS.
