Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have intercepted about N49 million at the newly upgraded Kaduna Airport.

It was gathered that officials of the anti-money laundering agency at the Kaduna zonal office made this blockage on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

They reportedly intercepted a sum of N49 million loaded in five large black 150kg colour BUHU sacks following a tip off.

During a routine baggage screening, the five sacks were sighted unattended and without tags containing fresh bulk items suspected to be money.

Upon examination, the bags were found to contain fresh crispy Naira notes of N200 denomination in 20 bundles totalling N40 million and N50 denomination in 180 bundles totalling N9 million with seal purportedly emanating from the Nigeria Security and Minting Plc (NSPM) as seen in the labelled sealed packs.

However, investigation into the case is said to be in top gear to unravel the culprits behind the attempted illegal movement of the cash.
