The upward trend in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued on Monday on the resumption of trading activities for the week.
The major market indicators closed today in the green zone, extending the bullish run to eight trading sessions.
The All-Share Index (ASI) rose by 0.12 percent or 39.77 points to finish at 33,301.43 points, while the market capitalisation advanced by N13.7 billion to settle at N11.5 trillion, and the TYD gain closed at 23.91 percent.
However, market breadth ended negative on Monday with 23 equities appreciating compared with 26 stocks, which suffered losses.
The chief loser was International Breweries, which shed N1.46k to finish at N30 per share.
It was closely trailed by PZ Cussons, which declined by 85k to end at N20.65k per share, and Oando, which fell by 72k to close at N6.83k per share.
NASCON slumped by 47k to finish at N9.3k per share, while Dangote Sugar capped the top five losers’ chart depreciating by 34k to settle at N8.66k per share.
However, 7up emerged the highest gainer today after progressing by N5.72k to settle at N94.95k per share.
Forte Oil followed after increasing by N4.33k to close at N60.50k per share, and Unilever rose by N3.38k to end at N36.38k per share.
Nigerian Breweries gained N3.36k to finish at N157.38k per share, while Flour Mills Nigeria added N1.25k to close at N26.25k per share.
Niger Insurance closed on Monday as the most active stock on the trading floor of the NSE with 150 million units exchanged at N75 million.
It was followed by First Bank, which traded 36 million shares worth N213.8 million, and FCMB, which transacted 14.9 million shares valued at N18 million.
UBA sold 14.2 million shares worth N125.2 million, and Flour Mills Nigeria transacted 12.3 million shares valued at N320.4 million.
In all, investors traded total of 323 million shares in 3,830 deals worth N2.7 billion, compared with 311.6 million units exchanged last Friday in 3,113 deals valued at N3.3 billion.
