Five Equities Lead NASD OTC Bourse Into Green Territory in Week 33

Five price gainers led the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange back into positive territory in the 33rd week of trading (August 12-16) in 2024.

The gainers were led by FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc, which recorded an 11.1 per cent appreciation, to end the week at N50.00 per unit against the previous week’s N45.00 per unit.

Afriland Properties Plc improved by 10.3 per cent to sell at N17.60 per share versus the former value of N15.95 per share, Nipco Plc rose by 8.6 per cent to N72.00 per unit from N66.28 per unit, Aradel Holdings Plc appreciated by 2.1 per cent to close at N4,700.00 per unit compared with the previous week’s N4,603.28 per unit, and Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc expanded by 0.6 per cent to N18.61 per share from N18.50 per share.

However, Food Concepts Plc lost 2.1 per cent in the five-day trading week to settle at N1.90 per unit, in contrast to the preceding week’s value of N1.94 per unit.

At the close of trading activities last Friday, the market capitalisation of the bourse increased by N33.53 billion to N2.029 trillion from N1.996 trillion, and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) jumped by 24.47 points to 1,481.00 points from 1,456.53 points in Week 32.

In the week, the volume of trades rose by 822.6 per cent to 64.4 million units from 6.98 million units, but the value of transactions declined by 13.2 per cent to N3.14 billion from N3.61 billion, and the number of deals decreased by 1.7 per cent to 226 deals from 230 deals.

Afriland Plc was the most traded security by volume with 62.3million units, followed by FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc with 0.95 million units, Aradel Holdings Plc exchanged 0.43 million units, CSCS Plc transacted 0.29 million units, and Food Concepts Plc traded 0.27 million units.

But Aradel Holdings Plc was the most active stock by value in the week with N1.99 billion, Afriland Plc followed with N1.1 billion, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc raked in N450 million, CSCS Plc posted N5 million, and Nipco Plc recorded N4 million.
