Investors Jostle to Build Lagos Fourth Mainland Bridge

By Dipo Olowookere

Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development in Lagos State, Mr Adebowale Akinsanya, has disclosed that investors from around the globe are jostling to construct the fourth mainland bridge in Lagos.

This followed the cancellation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the state government with a consortium of firms.

Mr Akinsanya, while addressing newsmen in Ikeja on Monday, May 22, 2017, noted that investors had started scouting for the project.

According to him, they (investors) have started sending their proposals to the Lagos State government.

“The state government has started the proposals. We have such investors from South Korea, Europe and the United States, among few others. What we are doing now is vetting the proposals. We do not want to waste any further time. So works are in top progress on the 4th Mainland Bridge,” the Commissioner said.

He said further that, “The investors would be named very soon, the state government will enter into concession agreement with appropriate investors that deliver the project.”

He explained that the state government had terminated the deal it entered with the earlier investors because they were slow in executing the project, which is aimed at easing traffic gridlock in the state.

Last week, the state government commissioned the Abule Egba and Ajah flyovers. This has resulted in easing the flow of traffic in the areas.
