The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange grew by 0.94 per cent in five trading sessions last week, with N8.72 billion gained by investors at the close of transactions.
This moved the market capitalisation of the NASD Exchange higher to N935.93 billion from the N927.21 billion achieved in the preceding week, which was the 6th trading week of the year.
In the same vein, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) increased in the week by 6.64 points to settle at 712.28 points as against the 705.64 points it recorded a week earlier.
Last week, the bourse had four advancers, with FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc gaining 2.2 per cent to close at N66.45 per unit, in contrast to the previous week’s N65.00 per unit.
Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc appreciated by 7.6 per cent to close the week at N13.50 per share versus N12.55 per share, Geo-Fluids Plc rose by 10.8 per cent to close at N1.13 per unit versus N1.02 per unit, while UBN Property Plc went up by 16.2 per cent to finish at 86 Kobo per share compared with the previous week’s closing price of 74 Kobo per share.
In the 7th week of trading in 2023, the value of transactions increased by 175.7 per cent to N83.4 million from N30.9 million, the volume of trades jumped by 1,769.5 per cent to 94.6 billion units from the 5.1 million units transacted in the preceding week, while the number of deals depreciated by 32.14 per cent to 38 deals from the 56 deals achieved in the previous week.
On a year-to-date basis, a total of 351.2 million securities worth N1.89 billion have been traded by market participants in 494 deals, data from the NASD OTC Exchange revealed.
