Unlisted stocks valued at N59.7 million exchanged hands at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Monday, January 11 but this was not enough to push up the key market performance parameters as they closed in the flat territory.
At the previous session, only N701,220 worth of securities were traded by the market participants, indicating a significant 8,416.7 per cent increase in the trading value yesterday.
But as earlier stated, despite the rise, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) remained static at the close of transactions at 741.45 points.
In the same vein, the market capitalisation of the exchange remained unchanged at the close of business yesterday at N532 billion.
For the trading volume, there was a rise by 3,081.3 per cent as data obtained by Business Post from the NASD OTC Exchange showed that a total of 171,600 unit of shares were transacted at the bourse compared with the 5,394 units traded at the preceding session.
Also, the market witnessed a significant rise in the number of deals executed by investors on Monday, by 200 per cent to three deals from the single deal carried out last Friday.
The deals recorded yesterday were done on Friesland Campina WAMCO Plc (two deals) and Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc (one deal).
It was observed that when market activities were wrapped up yesterday, there were no market advancers or decliners as all the stocks on the trading platform retained their previous share prices.
So far this year, NDEP Plc has been the most active stock by volume with the sale of 196,650 units of its shares worth N68.9 million. Central Securities Clearing Systems (CSCS) Plc has traded 45,890 units worth N724,268, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc has transacted 37,994 units worth N5.5 million, while Nipco Plc has exchanged 2,500 units for N170,000.
In terms of the most traded stock by value (year-to-date), NDEP Plc took the top position with 196,650 units worth N68.9 million. FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc trailed with 37,994 units worth N4.9 million, CSCS Plc has traded 45,890 units valued at N724,268, while Nipco Plc has transacted 2,500 units for N170,000.
