From Thursday, March 1, 2018, Lagos State government will no longer accept payment of taxes or any other bills’ payment through cash.

According to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, residents and taxpayers in the metropolis would now be able to pay all legitimate bills through all payment channels at their own time and convenience, using the mobile and online platforms.

Mr Ambode made this known when he paid his land use charge at a branch of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) in the state in the presence of the lender’s Group Managing Director, Mr Segun Agbaje.

Speaking at the exercise, the Governor urged other residents of the state to support the state government by paying their dues and taxes.

“I paid my Land Use Charge today. I ask all residents to join me by making a decision for prosperity and pay all their due taxes,” he said.

“From the 1st of March 2018, no payments or taxes would be made in cash across the State.

“Tax payers will now be able to pay all legitimate bills through all payment channels at their own time and convenience.

“The transaction process is now every day, anytime including weekends,” the Governor said further.
