NASD Bourse Returns to Green Territory, Gains 4.6% in Week 24

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange returned to green territory in Week 24 after appreciating by 4.6 per cent, happening a week after it posted its first loss in nine weeks.

Six price gainers raised the market capitalisation of the bourse by N94 billion to N2.130 trillion from the N2.036 trillion recorded in Week 23, as the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) increased by 57.96 points to 1,544.08 points from 1,486.12 points.

Nipco Plc led the charge after it rose by 10 per cent to end at N79.20 per unit versus the preceding week’s N72.00 per unit, Aradel Holdings Plc, which is planning to quit the platform soon, appreciated by 8.3 per cent to N5,150.00 per share from the previous closing value of N4,755.17 per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc grew by 6.9 per cent to N44.21 per unit from the previous week’s N41.34 per unit.

Further, Afriland Properties Plc gained 3.4 per cent to close at N18.30 per share against N17.70 per share, Food Concepts Plc recorded a 0.5 per cent gain to quote at N2.15 per unit versus the preceding week’s N2.14 per unit, and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc jumped by 0.1 per cent to N20.00 per share from N19.99 per share.

However, the share price of 11 Plc depreciated by 1.0 per cent to settle at N202,95 per unit, in contrast to the preceding week’s N205.00 per unit.

In the week, investors bought and sold 217.6 million securities, 3,101.0 per cent higher than the 6.8 million securities traded a week earlier, and the value of transactions went up by 7.2 per cent to N775.7 million from N723.7 million, while the number of deals decreased by 31.8 per cent to 161 deals from 236 deals.

Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc was the most traded security by volume with 210.9 million units, Food Concepts Plc traded 5.0 million units, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc exchanged 0.8 million units, Acorn Petroleum Plc transacted 0.3 million units, and Afriland Plc sold 0.2 million units.

But Aradel Holdings Plc was the most active by value with N670.6 million, IGI Plc recorded N44.3 million, FrieslandCampina Wamco Plc posted N36.8 million, Food Concepts Plc traded N10.8 million and 11 Plc transacted N4.7 million.
