The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange recorded a 0.79 per cent appreciation on Monday, July 22, triggered by Aradel Holdings Plc and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc.
High-flying market bellwether, Aradel Holdings Plc. gained N73.89 yesterday to end at N4,800.00 per share compared with the preceding session’s N4,726.11 per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc rose by 3 Kobo to sell at N47.03 per unit versus last Friday’s closing price of N47.00 per unit.
As a result of this, the wealth of unlisted securities investors increased by N16.11 billion as the market capitalisation closed at N2.048 trillion, in contrast to the N2.032 trillion it closed in the preceding session.
Also, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) increased its value during the day by 11.75 points to wrap the session at 1,495.03 points compared with 1,483.28 points recorded at the previous session.
During the session, there was a rise in the volume of securities traded by 411.6 per cent as investors exchanged 1.3 million units of stocks versus the 250,882 units of stocks traded in the preceding session.
However, there was a slump in the value of shares traded yesterday by 44.2 per cent to N276.7 million from the N497.1 million recorded in the preceding trading session.
These trades were carried out in 18 deals versus the 30 deals executed last Friday, indicating a 40.00 per cent decline.
Aradel Holdings Plc closed the session as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 7.5 million units valued at N22.2 billion, followed by Afriland Properties Plc with 230.4 million units sold for N4.1 billion, and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with 102.0 million units worth N2.5 billion.
Capital Hotels Plc finished the trading day as the most active stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with 259.6 million sold for N1.3 billion, trailed by Afriland Properties Plc with 230.4 million units worth N4.1 billion, and Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with 218.8 million units valued at N46.1 million
