The management of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced the postponement of the release of its Consumer Price Index/Inflation report for the month of June 2018.

Business Post reports that the stats agency was supposed to release the very important report on Friday, July 13, 2018 (today).

However, the NBS, in a message on Thursday, announced that it would no longer release the much-awaited report this morning as earlier expected.

In the notice issued by the agency, it was disclosed that the inflation figure would now be released on Monday, July 23, 2018.

“Please note that due to delays out of the control of the NBS, June 2018 Consumer Price Index/Inflation report will now be released Monday 23/07/2018 at 8:15am and not Friday 13/07/2018 as earlier advertised.

“We regret any inconvenience,” brief notice by the Statistician General of the Federation, Dr Yemi Kale, disclosed.

Incidentally, the new date for the release of the inflation data for June 2018 is the day the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is starting its Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting.

At the close of its meeting the next day, the committee is expected to announce if it would hold, lower or raise the benchmark interest rate presently at 14 percent.
