Federal Government has expressed its intention to further enhance the trade and economic ties between Nigeria and Tunisia.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, made this known when he visited the Tunisian President, Béji Essebsi, at the Carthage Palace in Tunis, the North African nation’s capital.
Mr Onyeama told the Tunisian President that the corporation between both countries would lead to growth of its trade and economy.
The Minister, in a statement released in Abuja by his media aide, Sarah Sanda noted that the Federal Government was establishing a system of good governance, create jobs for young people, and diversify the income sources of the Nigerian economy.
He said Nigeria was willing to further develop trade exchanges and to benefit from the investment opportunities available in both countries.
In his remarks, the Tunisian leader thanked the Minister for the visit and said Tunisia will continue to collaborate with Nigeria.
Mr Essebsi stressed the need for both nations to share experiences through the exchange of visits between senior officials.
He also echoed the Minister’s point that both countries have a lot to gain by working together.
The President renewed his invitation to President Muhammadu Buhari, who he described as his brother, to visit Tunisia at his convenience.
