Investors at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Friday, October 25 counted their losses after the trading platform went south by 0.39 per cent.

This happened as the volume of securities traded at the bourse increased during the session by 387.4 per cent to 589,042 units from the 120,859 units transacted by market participants a day earlier.

Inversely, the value of securities bought and sold by investors went down by 6.5 per cent to N2.7 million from the N2.9 million recorded in the preceding trading sesion.

However, the number of deals carried out on the last trading day of the week increased by 275 per cent to 30 deals from the eight deals executed in the previous trading session.

The unlisted securities market recorded three price losers on Friday, with Geo-Fluids Plc down by 44 Kobo to sell at N4.05 per share compared to Thursday’s N4.49 per share.

Further, Acorn Petroleum Plc lost 22 Kobo to quote at N2.08 per unit versus N2.30 per unit, and Nipco Plc depreciated by N9.70 to trade at N97.00 per share, in contrast to the previous day’s N106.70.

Consequently, the market capitalisation went down by N127.16 billion at the close of business to N1.047 trillion from the N1.051 trillion it finished a day earlier, and the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) recorded a deduction of 4.14 points to end the day at 2,987.75 points as against 2,999.54 points it recorded at the previous session.

Geo-Fluids Plc remained the most active stock by volume (year-to-date) with 1.6 billion units sold for N3.8 billion, Okitipupa Plc came next with 751.3 million units valued at N7.7 billion, and Afriland Properties Plc followed with 296.6 million units worth N5.3 million.

Aradel Holdings Plc remained the most active stock by value (year-to-date) with 108.7 million units worth N89.2 billion, followed by Okitipupa Plc with 751.3 million units valued at N7.7 billion, and Afriland Properties Plc with 296.6 million units sold for N5.3 billion.
