Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued on a bad note on Wednesday like the previous day.
Business Post correspondent reports that the market capitalisation, which lost N5 billion on Tuesday to end at N9.704 trillion, suffered a further loss on Wednesday, shedding N4.3 billion to close at N9.699 trillion.
Similarly, the All-Share Index dipped further losing 12.63 points to close at 28,236.23 points compared to 28,248.86 points it ended the previous day.
Mobil led the top five gainers’ on the NSE on Wednesday as it appreciated by N8.97 to close at 188.52 per share in contrast to N179.55 per share it traded on Tuesday.
Seplat Petroleum followed after gaining N4 to close at N330 per share, Nigerian Breweries N147 per share appreciating by N1.97, GlaxoSmithKline N20.5 per share adding 90k and Stanbic IBTC N17.28 gaining 53k.
On the other hand, Nestle topped the losers’ table, shedding N10.82 to close at N815.18 per share, while Total followed closing at N291.02 per share after shedding N8.23.
Beta Glass lost N1.46 to finish at N30.05 per share, Wapco dropped N1.13 to close at N54.87 per share and Presco Plc lost N1 to close at N40.
In all, a total of 159 million shares were traded in 3,237 deals worth N1.45 billion.
On Wednesday, FCMB was the most traded share exchanging 24,882,247 units worth N26.6 million, while 21,251,960 Access Bank shares worth N116 million were exchanged on the same day.
