Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc has revealed plans to revamp the agricultural industry in Edo State through a collaborative arrangement with the local communities and indigenous farmers to boost job creation and production in the state.
In a statement signed by Christian Mariare, the company’s Secretary, it was disclosed that the firm was planning to cultivate over 5,000 hectares of oil palm in the state.
This effort is in line with the foresight of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO), which seeks to improve agricultural techniques for cultivation and production of the resource in the state.
Okomu Oil also revealed that it would be working with the relevant bodies in ensuring that it trains and support aspiring youths in a positive and productive direction.
It also revealed that the company’s involvement in the development of Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is aimed towards establishing a sustainable oil palm growth and practice which would help develop the state.
