Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State yesterday presented a budget estimate of N190 .92 billion for the 2018 fiscal year.
The budget proposal was presented by the Governor to the Imo State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Tagged the ‘Budget of Consolidation and Continuity, the appropriation bill has N132.98 billion earmarked for capital expenditure, representing 69.70 percent of the total budget, while N57.943 billion is allotted for recurrent expenditure, representing 30.30 percent of the total budget.
Mr Okorocha further said the 2018 budget was 59.8 billion higher than the 2017 budget, which was a total of N131.14 billion.
According to him, the ministry of works and transport received the highest allocation in the 2018 budget with N39.8 earmarked for the sector.
He said this was followed by the Ministry of Education, which has N13.5 billion allocated to it, while the agriculture sector plans to spend N7.6 billion next year with culture receiving the lowest amont of N440.2 million.
The Governor informed the lawmakers that his administration plans to continue with the various projects and developments spread across the state in 2018.
