The House of Representatives has accused Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) of breaching the country’s local content law as contained in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act of 2010.

Speaking at a special panel session of the Sixth Practical Nigerian Content Conference held in Abuja, the House Committee on Local Content alleged that some of the companies have violated Section 33 of the NOGICD Act by abuse of expatriate quota.

Chairman of the Committee, Mr Emmanuel Ekon singled out the two firms as the main culprits in the alleged offence, lamenting that they do not get approval from the board on behalf of the expatriates working with them.

According to Mr Ekon, NCDMB Act was empowered to have information on all the professionals working in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
