Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) are expected to have another meeting with the Federal Government on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 (today).
Both parties are meeting in a bid to put an end to the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by the academic union.
Minister of Labour and Employment, Mr Chris Ngige, will lead government’s delegation to the meeting.
The meeting, according to information gathered, will commence by 12 noon.
Those expected at the meeting include the Minister of Education, Minister of Finance, Chairman National Income Salaries and Wages Commission, Executive Secretary National Universities Commission and the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
On Thursday, August 17, 2017, a meeting was held between the FG and ASUU, but the union promised to take the government’s offer back to its members and get back to the Federal Government within a week.
But Mr Ngige has urged ASUU to show good faith as the Federal Government had already demonstrated commitment to addressing the grievances of the union.
