Shareholders of a publicly listed company with trading and manufacturing interest in the consumer goods market, Unilever Nigeria, will be rewarded through the payment of dividend for the 2018 financial year.
This information was confirmed by the board of firm, which sells foods and food ingredients, and home and personal care products.
In a statement issued this week, Unilever Nigeria said its board held a meeting on March 14, 2019 in Lagos to consider and approve the payment of dividend subject to shareholders’ approval at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM).
It was gathered that the meeting was specifically for the consideration and approval of the Audited Financial Statements of the company for the year ended December 31, 2018.
“This to notify the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and our esteemed shareholders that at the meeting of the Board of Directors of Unilever Nigeria Plc which held on March 14, 2019 at 1, Billingsway, Lagos, the Audited Financial Statements of the company for the year ended December 31, 2018 was considered and approved.
“The board also considered and approved the payment of dividend subject to shareholders’ approval at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM),” a part of the statement said.
Furthermore, the statement assured that, “The Audited Financial Statements will be filed with the exchange on or before March 29, 2019.”
It said, “Consequently, the closed period restricting all directors and insiders from transacting in the shares of the company remain in place until 24 hours after the release of the Financial Statements to the public.”
