The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange suffered a 0.51 per cent loss in Week 5, with the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI) going down to 742 points from 745.82 points of the preceding week.
The negative outcome occurred as two stocks weighed down the bourse through the five days of trade with NASD Plc and Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc shouldering the responsibility.
NASD Plc lost 26.4 per cent to trade at N10.96 per share compared with N14.90 per share of the earlier week, while CSCS Plc depleted by 1.5 per cent to N19.70 per unit from the previous close of N20.00 per unit.
But in the week, Afriland Properties Plc gained 0.9 per cent to sell for N1.08 per share as against the preceding week’s N1.07 per share.
At the close of transactions in the week, the value of the exchange decreased by N3.24 billion to N628.31 billion from N631.55 billion of the preceding week.
In terms of the activity level, there was a 56.1 per cent decrease in the total value of stocks traded as investors traded a total of N50.6 million compared to N115.1 million in the previous week.
Last week, there was a 61.2 per cent decrease in the total volume traded as a total of 1.9 million units were exchanged compared to 4.9 million in the previous week.
There was also a decrease in the number of deals by 4.4 per cent as 44 trades were executed in five days versus 46 deals from the previous week.
At the close of business, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc was the most traded stock by value with N36.3 million, NASD Plc followed with N5.5 million, Niger Delta Exploration and Production (NDEP) Plc posted N4.7 million, CSCS Plc recorded N3.2 million while Food Concepts Plc recorded N810,400.
However, Food Concepts Plc was the most traded stock by volume with 1.0 million units. NASD Plc traded 439,670 units, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc exchanged 305,672 units, CSCS Plc transacted 163,800 units, while NDEP Plc traded 581,323 units.
In the year so far, investors have traded a total of 661.8 million units of stocks worth N14.3 billion in 200 deals.
