The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange closed lower for the third straight session when it lost 0.27 per cent Thursday on the back of a price drop in the shares of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.
The milk-producing company closed the day as the only price loser as its share value went down by N1.58 to N69.92 per unit from the previous day’s N71.50 per unit.
This brought down the value of the unlisted securities market by N2.74 billion to N1.002 trillion from the N1.004 trillion it closed in the preceding session.
Following the same trend was the NASD Unlisted Securities Index (NSI), which shrank by 1.99 points to wrap the session at 724.36 points compared with 726.35 points recorded in the previous session.
There was a price gainer at the market on Thursday and this was Geo Fluids Plc, which gained 8 Kobo to close at N2.58 per share versus N2.50 per share.
Yesterday, the volume of securities traded increased by 5,737.3 per cent to 11.1 million units from the 189,416 units reported in the midweek session, as the value of trades jumped by 384.8 per cent to N92.9 million from N19.2 million, while the number of deals went down by 6.7 per cent to 14 deals from 15 deals.
Geo-Fluids Plc remained the most traded stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 830.9 million units valued at N1.3 billion, Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc stood in second place with 627.7 units valued at N49.4 million, while UBN Property Plc was in third place with 390.9 million units worth at N332.0 million.
VFD Group Plc maintained its position as the most traded stock by value on a year-to-date basis with 10.4 million units worth N2.4 billion, Geo-Fluids Plc was second with 830.9 million units valued at N1.3 billion, as FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc was in third place with 5.9 million units worth N416.9 million.
