There was a 1.70 per cent loss at the NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange on Wednesday, July 10, triggered by two energy stocks – Nipco Plc and Aradel Holdings Plc.
Nipco Plc lost N7.92 to end at N71.28 per unit compared with the previous session’s N79.20 per unit, and Aradel Holdings Plc depreciated by N190.00 to sell at N4,800.00 per share compared with the preceding session’s N4,990.00 per share.
On the flip side, First Trust Microfinance Bank Plc gained 3 Kobo to quote at 40 Kobo per share compared with the previous day’s 37 Kobo per share, and FrieslandCampina Wamco Nigeria Plc increased by N3.50 to N50.00 per unit from the previous session’s N46.50 per share.
At the close of transactions, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) recorded a slide of 26.11 points to end the day at 1,507.57 points as against 1,533.68 points it recorded at the previous session, and the market capitalisation lost N35.79 billion in value to close at N2.065 trillion versus Tuesday’s closing value N2.101 trillion.
The volume of securities traded at the bourse at midweek increased by 167.9 per cent to 98,067 units from the 36,599 units transacted by market participants at the last session.
Equally, the amount spent on stocks at the platform yesterday went up by 201.3 per cent to N150.6 million from the N49.9 million recorded a day earlier, and the number of deals rose by 57.1 per cent to 33 deals from the 21 deals carried out in the preceding trading day.
Capital Hotels Plc ended the day as the most traded stock by volume (year-to-date) with 259.6 million worth N1.3 billion, the second spot was occupied by Industrial and General Insurance (IGI) Plc with 218.8 million units valued at N46.1 million, while Mixta Real Estate Plc was in third position with 139.8 million units worth N240.1 million.
The most traded stock by value (year-to-date) with Aradel Holdings Plc 6.6 million units valued at N18.3 billion, as Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc claimed the second position with 101.7 million units sold for N2.5 billion, while the third position was taken by Capital Hotels Plc with 259.6 million worth N1.3 billion.
