A jailbreak at the Nsuka Prison in Enugu has resulted in the escape of about 15 inmates, Business Post has learnt.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday.
Officials of the Nigerian Prisons Service and other security agencies are now on the trail of the fugitives.
Controller of the Prison, Mr Lawrence Okonkwo, who confirmed the jailbreak, said all would be done to re-arrest the fleeing prisoners.
It was learnt that the inmates broke their cells and scaled over the perimeter fence of the facility.
About two weeks ago, a similar incident took place at the Koton Karfe Prison in Kogi State. Thirteen inmates fled from the prison then, but only six were re-arrested.
