A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi, has been reported dead.
The federal lawmaker, fondly called Jagaban, a chieftaincy title given to President Bola Tinubu from the Borgu kingdom of Niger State, breathed his last at age 51.
The details of his demise are still sketchy, but before his death, he was at the National Assembly representing the Ibadan North federal constituency.
He won his election to the federal parliament in 2023 under the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and was a member of the party’s defunct Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
His death has come to his colleague as a rude shock and there are speculations that legislative duties may be suspended for a day in his honour in line with traditions.
