The Kaduna State Governor, Mr Nasir El-Rufai, has condemned and appealed to residents of the state not to resort to jungle justice.
The Governor said this following the killing of six bandits in some communities in the state over the weekend by some villagers.
Mr El-Rufai, who sent condolences to the family of those killed by the bandits, reminded the people that the right thing to do when they get hold of criminals is to hand them over to the security operatives, especially the police.
It was reported that some villagers of Sangan and Lere local government areas of Kaduna State lynched six bandits after they were caught.
The incident was reported to the state government by security agencies, which were unable to save the situation because the hoodlums were burnt to ashes before their arrival.
According to the operational feedback on Thursday, December 24, two bandits attacked a businessman at Fadan Karshi in Sanga local government area.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in Kaduna State, Mr Samuel Aruwan, stated that the military and police went to the location on receiving the information.
However, on getting the place, some angry individuals had already lynched the bandits and burnt them to ashes.
It was also reported that in the same area, armed bandits shot at motorists plying the Aburo-Kafanchan road at night. Sadly, the bullets hit one Richard Sabo who was later confirmed dead at Gwantu General Hospital.
It was further disclosed that some bandits who specialised in stealing livestock were also killed through mob action in Lere local government.
The government also got a report on the killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Huda Yahaya, whose motorcycle was taken away by bandits after beheading him.
