The Lagos State Head of Service, Mrs Olabowale Ademola, has unveiled the redesigned and remodelled Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) Library done by a corps member, Miss Omobolanle Ogunnaike as a Personal Community Development Service project which is one of the cardinal programmes of the year-long service.

The HOS, while unveiling the project redesigned from a 20-seater open Reading Room to a modern individualised 34-seater Reading Room, acknowledged the corps member’s traits of excellence, tenacity, and resilience to succeed.

While urging parents to encourage children in whatever profession they choose, she described her as a good child who should be emulated by other children as she is an epitome of excellence.

The Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Mr Benson Akintola Oke extolled the corps member’s brilliance, saying she has brought her scientific orientation to bear by remodelling the library and urged everyone to support such philanthropy to develop our society.

In her remarks, the Director General of PSSDC, Mrs Olubunmi Fabamwo said Ogunnaike’s project offers a unique ambience to Library users on all subjects, attesting that “libraries offer a unique ambience for users to get much needed information about subjects and issues of importance and value to humanity.”

“They provide haven for research, development and investigation into academic and non-academic matters thereby contributing to social and national development.” Miss Omobolanle Ogunnaike, who titled the project ‘Start Before You Are Ready’ said she embarked on the project to give back to the Library that served her about ten years ago in her first year of sojourn in the university, describing the project as a dream fulfilled.

She explained that she solicited for sponsorship through the social media to gather support for the project, maintaining that it is her contribution to the society through Personal Community Development Service which is one of the cardinal programmes of the National Youth Service Corp.
