The Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde, has constituted a team to come up with ways to give palliatives to residents of the state.
The palliative committee is christened Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER), and it is saddled with the implementation of various palliatives for the citizens of Oyo State in light of the hardship caused by the subsidy removal.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Mr Dotun Oyelade, the move is in fulfilment of the pledge he made to the state during a broadcast recently.
The 15-man group is headed by his Chief of Staff, Mr Segun Ogunwuyi, while the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, is the Secretary.
Other members include the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Akinola Ojo; the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Segun Olayiwola; and the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Dotun Oyelade.
Others in the team are the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Mr Bayo Titilola-Sodo; the Senior Executive Assistant for General Duties, Mr Bayo Lawal; the Executive Assistant for Finance, Budget Economic Planning, Mr Kolawole Gafar; the Executive Assistant for Security, Mr Sunday Odukoya; the Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Miss Ololade Ajibola; a representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Daniel Oluwajimade; his colleague from the Muslim community, Mr Muniru Ogundipe; a representative of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Oyo, Mr Ademola Babalola; and a representative of the Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Mr Jide Bamgbose.
Mr Makinde advised the committee to let the sufferings of the masses propel their loyalty and admonished them to move with speed and efficiency.
