President Muhammadu Buhari will, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, address Nigerians over the crisis caused by the shortage of cash in the country.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) redesigned the Naira, especially the N200, N500, and N1,000 denominations, with the approval of Mr Buhari, but this move has created tension because the new currency notes are not sufficient for citizens.
This has triggered protests across Nigeria, with banking facilities burnt by angry Nigerians who do not have access to their funds in the banks.
Worried that this is almost threatening the 2023 general elections starting next week, President Buhari has decided to speak to the nation to douse the tension.
In a short message posted by one of his aides on New Media, Mr Bashir Ahmad, it was stated that Mr Buhari will have a national broadcast by 7 am today.
“President Muhammadu Buhari will make a national broadcast tomorrow (today), February 16, 2023, at 7 am.
“Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the NTA and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast,” the post stated.
