Members of staff of Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) on Wednesday morning commenced an indefinite strike action over non-payment of their entitlements.
The employees of the state-owned broadcast station refused to resume to their offices this morning after management of the outfit failed to honour three separate notices sent by the workers. They also prevented the management team to enter their offices.
The workers alleged that the management has failed to pay about N148.3 million of their entitlements.
According to the employees, their outstanding salaries for four months of about N76.8 million must be paid before they return to work.
They also asked for payment of pension deductions from 2012 to date put around N45 million as well as payment of outstanding union dues for year 2017 valued at N464,000.
On their demand list too is the National Housing Fund deductions of 2013 to date of over N2 million and the OGBC CTCS deduction of 2011-2016 of over N6 million.
Our correspondent learnt that as at the time of filing this report, men of the Nigeria Police have been called to the broadcast house to ensure the striking workers do not take laws in to their hands.
Last year, the station celebrated its 40th anniversary amid pomp and pageantry. The broadcast medium has two radio arms, OGBC 1 and OGBC 2.
