Paramount traditional ruler of Iwo land in Osun State, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, has reacted to news making the rounds that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, ordered his guards to push him (Oluwo) out of the way at a recent event held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Reacting to the issue, the stylish monarch said it was unfortunate such happened and said “respect begets respect.”
According to him, “Anytime when Emperor Telu arrives, he does not need to scare his children (the black race) with all kind of old-scare tactics/ways that does not fit into 21st century.
“All those noise is meant for the palace to show and entertain our visitors about our old way that should never be forgotten as well as educate them about the new and improved in which love must set in.
“I will never tell my security detail to push another King no matter what ‘class’ of Oba!!! Even if my security detail made a mistake of pushing anyone, I will scold that detail about how an Oba must respect his children and everyone regardless of their status in the society, not to talk of pushing an Oba with no apologies!
“Anytime I meet other kings, I, Oluwo of Iwo Land, exchange pleasantries with them with a smile and even touch each other as a sign of respect, that is, respect which is reciprocal.
“Oluwo doesn’t tell his entourage to push other Kings out of the way because he wants to pass just as Governor Aregbesola will never ask his security details to push Governor Akeredolu out of the way because he wants to pass.”
